The 1 oz South African Krugerrand silver coin was first introduced in 2017, marking the 50th anniversary of the immensely popular South African Gold Krugerrand. Since then these coins have been issued each year making it an annual choice for bullion investors.  The coin contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver and has the same design as the Gold Krugerrand.  The front of the coin features Paul Kruger, the first elected president of South Africa in the late 19th Century.  Rand is the South African currency’s monetary denomination, giving the coin the name of Krugerrand. The reverse of the coin features a springbok antelope. This coin is newer to the bullion market but has set a standard for quality because of its gold counterpart’s popularity. Furthermore, this Krugerrand silver coin is backed by the South African government.
